The Career Management Service is part of Croydon Talking Therapies (IAPT) and supports people who are accessing therapy to improve their career management skills. The service offers career coaching to support you to find work or help you keep your job if you are experiencing difficulties at work.
The service has developed a model of supported employment called the Individual Career Management (ICM) model which tailors support to the needs of the individual and uses a range of tools to support you to make career decisions effectively and independently.
Support offered can include:
- Career guidance to explore individual work motivations and interests to identify a suitable job match
- Assistance to access training, education and volunteering
- Employability support: CV development, help with application forms, interview advice and job search support
- Career Management Workshops on topics such as Social Media for Job Search, Interview Skills and Disclosure
If you are in work and experiencing difficulties, or off work sick, the Career Management Service can liaise with your employer to recommend support needed to help you keep your job or return to work. Your advisor can attend meetings with you and can also advise and support with grievances and tribunals, signposting you for specialist help in this area if needed.
All eligible referrals are offered a one hour consultation session. At the end of this session you will either be offered up to six sessions of support or signposted to one of our partner services in the borough. To make an application to the service, please speak to your therapist or the clinician carrying out your initial screening.
